Description	Houston public grain elevator, owned and operated by the Harris County Ship Channel Navigation District
Caption	"On July 1, 1926 the Grain Elevator commenced operations. The storage capacity was mroe than 1,000,000 bushels, built with space allotted for as much additional storage extension as future business might justify. The unloading capacity of the Elevator was 90 cars in ten hours, and loading to ships could be made at the rate of 50,000 bushels per hour. In 1930 the capacity was increased to 3,500,000 bushels and the unloading capacity doubled to 180 cars in ten hours, with loading to ships to be made at the rate of 100,000 bushels per hour. On May 5, 1952 the truck dumper was placed in operation to accomodate grain being received by truck"--from accompanying note
