Caption	1939 or so. Engagement party for Nick Peet and Catherine Chiakos. At the Peet family's house, 309 Preston. All the kinfolks -- "our family and her family" -- had lunch together, then later the community people dropped in for refreshments, etc. Back: boy, Mike Verges, Georgia Kousakis, Mary Peet, Faye Verges, Constantina Peet, Bessie Verges, Catherine Petheriotes, Bill Kousakis, Sophia Petheriotes, Theresa Tsangalakis, Tom Arapalis, and Unknown. Front: Angelo Mytelin, Vasiliki Mytelin, Katherine Chiakos, bride, mother of the bride Malvina Chiacos, Lela Malos, Nota Kousakis, Tacia Kousakis, Anthonette Arapalis, boy Theo Araplais, Jim Chiacos, father of the bride. When I commented that their family was huge, Mr. Peet said, "Sometimes our family alone controlled decisions made by vote in the community."
