Caption	1936 Sons of Pericles May Fete. Texas Centennial year, so the dance had a Texas theme. It was held at the Mila building, and the Sons and Maids elected a King and Queen. Often these contests were conducted as money-raising events as well - you had to pay a penny a vote to vote for your favorite. The money was used to finance the party, the two clubs, or for some church expenses. A poster would be displayed, showing who had received the most votes, which kept the interest high and the pennies coming in. The King and Queen, Angelo Verges and Tacia Catsinas, center, represent the USA. Other couples: Spanish: Nick and Matina Kousakis, cousins, Nick Catsinas (in big black tie) and Georgia Kousakis, Virginia Ginakis (seated holding flowers ) and Jimmy Verges, Theresa Demeris, Willie Peet, Fofo Chickenis, Nick Stratos. Announcers: James Petheriotes and Nick Angelos.
