Then, after a brief shot of a room marked "Homicide 316" a skull is held up for the camera. -- Port Security - Stone Wrap, Date: "10/ /62": Ron Stone reports on a holdover Harris County Jury that is considering six options to tighten up security at the Port of Houston, after a recent theft. -- Floods, Fires, Etc., Date: "10/ /62": Various scenes of cars and drivers struggling to maneuver through flooded streets and heavy rain. Shots of a raging fire. Footage of the collapsed roof of the Hammond Organ Studios building in the Windsor Plaza. Flooded neighborhood road with children wading in the waters. -- CC & Elliott - Apparent Surplus, Date: "10/ /62": Meeting of the City Council, followed by an interview of a man discussing the general fund budget and a surplus of six million dollars, as well as other city funds with surpluses. -- Karankawa Diggings, Date: "10/ /62": A partially revealed skeleton found in the ground, as people work carefully to expose more of the skeleton. -- Female Narco, Date: "10/ /62": A woman smokes while covering her face with her hands and replies to someone off screen, as well as a brief shot of a bottle of pills. -- Cutback on Water, Date: "10/ /62": Exterior and interior shots of the Department of Water building, followed by a man discussing a rate increase of about 30-31% for water, after a long, hot summer when people used more water.

Background	This film reel contains short segments on news events in the Channel 11 viewing area, mostly within the city of Houston. The segments were filmed prior to the news show, and the anchorperson would have provided a voice-over describing the action and highlights of the news story. Each reel contains a series of film clips literally spliced together end-to-end without the benefit of the transitional commentary supplied by the anchor. This format eliminates introductory summaries as well as entire news stories narrated live by the anchor during a broadcast. Neither the sound track or the film visual contain on-camera anchor material. The titles that have been assigned to each film clip were created by people working at KHOU-TV, probably the camera operators or editors.
