Mrs. Kennedy's speech in Spanish was received with wild cheers and applause. This took place in Houston, Texas on Nov. 21, 1963, sometime between 8:30 p. m. and 9 p. m. Fifteen hours later an assassin's bullet took the life of John F. Kennedy, first U. S. President ever to become an honorary member of Lulac or to even attend a Lulac function.
