Abstract |
Goldie Loewenthal was born in 1902. Her father came to Galveston, Texas in 1892 to answer a need for a Rabbi. He had eight children, out of that only 3 survived. Goldie went to Rice University in Houston. After a bad marriage, she entered the University of Houston and obtained two degrees, and became a teacher. She taught for twenty years before she retired. Her second marriage was with Mr. Loewenthal, who was a plumber, and he knew many languages. Goldie chose to be a commercial teacher in Senior High School, so that her students would be able to support themselves during the Depression. She always earned the respect of the students she taught. |
