Abstract	Dr. Augustina Reyes speaks about her experiences as an educator in the city of Houston. She began her career by teaching community GED classes and later served on the Board of Education for Houston Independent School District. While serving in that position she helped to add seats for other Hispanic board members. Dr. Reyes is currently the Professor of Educational Leadership and Cultural Studies at the University of Houston College of Education.
