Born in Houston, jazz musician Sonny "Boy" Franklin discusses his musical family and his education at Yates High School. Franklin shares his memories of learning jazz at Yates, as well as the rivalry with Wheatley High School. Franklin describes his career, and how jazz has evolved over his lifetime, as well as the people and places he ran across throughout the United States. Franklin also discusses his students and his teaching career. |
