Abstract	Louisa Stude Sarofim discusses her long-time efforts as a philanthropist for various arts organizations in Houston. She was involved with the creation of the Houston Ballet and helped its Foundation to receive a major grant from the Ford Foundation in 1978. She later became the president of the Houston Ballet as well as the Vice Chairmen of the Board of Trustees for the St. John’s School. Mrs. Sarofim also served on the boards for the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, the Contemporary Arts Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Houston Grand Opera.
