Abstract |
George V. Rodriguez (b. 1939), retired Seargent for the Houston Police Department, was the first Mexican national to join the Houston police force. Rodriguez was born in Mexico City and moved to Houston as a child. He discusses his experience with the city police department and shares his perspective on the changes that have occurred in the Northside area. |

The Northside History Collaborative was formed in 2015 to capture the voices of Northside residents. Northside is a historic community located near downtown Houston. The oral history interviews were conducted by the Avenue CDC Go Neighborhoods Northside Youth Group. This collaborative is a partnership between the Houston Metropolitan Research Center, Avenue CDC Go Neighborhoods Northside and the University of Houston Downtown campus. |
