In the town of Brazoria on the 3rd day of January 1834 before me Edwin [Wallen?] Alcalde of this jurisdiction, and the instrumental witnesses who will be named at the end, came Henry a Black man about thirty years of age who declared that he was a slave in the United States of the North and that he fled from his master to this country –
That he was about to be taken back where he would again be reduced to servitude, but that T F L Parrott of this jurisdiction at his special instance & request had paid for him to the agent of his former master the sum of six hundred dollars –
Now the said Henry with a view to indemnify the said Parrott for said payment doth here by bind himself to the said Parrott, his heirs or assigns to serve him faithfully during the term or period of fifty years from this time –
And he binds himself to perform all the duties which a good servant should do, granting to the said Parrott the right to chastise him should he fail therein
