Bureau of Conscriptions, T. M. D.
Marshall, Texas, April 26th, 1865.
Dear Greene,
Not having heard from you in some time, I suppose my last letter did not reach you. From Capt. McClellan I regret to learn that you still sick. You have a tedious siege; but I hope the worst is over.
I am acting temporarily with Genl Nicholls; shall wind up with him this week. I go with Genl Green. I suppose he will relieve Genl Robertson in a week or two. Unless Genl Smith forbid, his H’d Qrs. will be established at Marshall. Pope & Womack will remain permanently with Gen’l Nicholls – all the rest go with Gen’l Green.
