Transcript	Huntsville 11th Oct 1858 My Dear … I am extremely obliged to for your kind and prompt reply to my letter. Your statements relating to the Concrete[?] system, is very satisfactory, and accords with my opinions, but contradictory statements had been made to my relations to character of such buildings, that I was ill at ease, on this subject. My intention is to begin the latter part of next spring at Cedar Point on Galveston Bay, if I am spared. I propose to turn lines of shells and of whale? [end of page 1] shells, and, and gravel with sand from sand bars of the Bay, make my mortar. What do you think of this composition? What will the workmen of which you speak be willing to work for by the month? It will afford me sincere gratification to have your [?] at length on the cotton trade, as it is all important, not only to the South but to Christendom, and indeed the world, that bring a [?] my attention has not been drawn to the subject of cotton, as it would doubtless have been had I been directly interested in the subject. On any subject that you be pleased to make suggestions, to me, I will be happy to receive them. [end of page 2] Today I set off, or early tomorrow, for Cedar Point, to see what preparations will be necessary for spring work, as I wish to begin by the time warm weather, will come nearer so that the work will dry most readily.
