Constance was the daughter of Charles Evershade, Superintendent of the Texas Transportation Company. Constance kept her diary for 15 years from 1885 to 1900. The diary was publicized in 1962 when it appears in two articles by Ed Kilman in his column "Texas Heartbeat" in the Houston Post.
